Valve Index " should i buy "

I have wanted an index for a while. I have little to no money and i finally might be able to get one. However due to them being out for 4 years now, i would assume they are a bit outdated relative to whatever valve is working on " i cannot find any info "

Is it still worth dropping 1k on an index , will they be replaced in a year and i should just hold out?

Absolutely worth buying and if there were plans for a replacement they would've announced it by now, Steam Deck for instance had a loooot of hype behind it, + they need pre-orders so they know how many to produce in the beginning, etc. Not outdated by any means, still top of the line VR and the best finger tracking available.

Just remember though, not all patented things come to fruition. So if you're comfortable with what is out right now then by all means get it and enjoy the hell out of it.

For $1k and other options out and on the horizon for the same $ or less? Kind of hard to say yes on it.

Of course, but the thing is Valve also put in for a V.2 controller. That's never happened but was pushed towards the deck, sooooo yeah.

It's OP's money and if they want to wait for potentially nothing then that's up to them. If they're well off enough then the 1k for a current Index may be worth it over something else never materializing.

So that was my concern, the index seems like its top of the line right now, regardless of its age. I dont have plug ins for the base stations where they would need to go so id have to run extension cords i believe. The only inconvenience.

I would rather wait if i know something releasing int eh next like 6 months or so but if its like a year or more out for a new super high quality vr headset id just buy this.

I was more worried that the next improved version of index would be coming out this year and then i spend a grand only to have it drop in price and something possibly better coming out right after leaving me with my pants around my ankles
