I got falsely reported and Steam won't answer me
A user by the name of "Draghnateall" wanted to buy my knife that I had in CSGO. He messaged me almost every day and I was interested until he told me he was going to buy it off me on a website. I didn't feel safe and decided to tell him that I did not want to trade anymore. He seemed pissed off because he messaged me threatening that I would get reported by 200 bots and get trade banned. Turns out he actually did report my account and I got violation. I tried contacting steam support with a screenshot of the messages I had with "Draghnateall" and hopefully get the strike removed. I never sent a trade request or anything to the guy. Someone please help.

sounds like a scam. if someone contacted you saying they were from steam support, they are lying.

report bots do nothing. a report only causes an investigation to happen. you will never be told you were reported, you will never know you were investigated. the only way any action is taken against the account is when there is a violation of the rules.

you backing out of a trade because someone wanted to use a 3rd party site is not a violation of any rule. using 3rd party sites is USE AT OWN RISK.

Valve employees will never communicate with you about your account using any chat system including Steam Chat and Discord. The only way you can speak with a Steam Support agent about your account is through the Steam Support Help Site. There's no situation in which you'd need to reach out to a Valve or Steam employee directly to resolve an issue.

If someone claims they reported you accidentally or falsely, you do not need to do anything to protect your account. These claims are always fake and only meant scam you. If someone did report your account falsely, you can rest assured that Steam disregards false reports.

Anyone claiming to be a Valve employee, Steam Support representative, or asking to verify your items for an investigation should be immediately reported.
You're being SCAMMED. Stop interacting with the user, report them, block them and move on.

Keep in mind this user was not pretending to be a Valve employee or anything like that. Just a regular user. The issue I am having is that he actually reported me and I now have a violation on my account. I need to get in touch with Steam so they can remove it. They made a mistake!

Your account is compromised, check your machine for malware, change the password, change your email password, revoke all api keys, and then think about where you were last asked to input your steam credentials, because you've been phished.

You do NOT have a "violation" on your account, this is an incredibly common scam

Spam reports do nothing, what makes you think you have a violation?

If you didn't do anything you can be reported by a billion users and nothing would happen

you had to have actually done something wrong to get a violation. All contact with Steam Support has to be done through help.steampowered.com , don't respond to any user talking to you on it through Steam or Discord or anywhere else about any kind of violation.

If it's in your bio where you can edit it then it's because someone has access to your account and your account is compromised

I FOUND IT! It was a fake bio summary. I'm going to change my email password as well as my steam at this moment. Thank you to everyone!

If someone got access to your account then be sure to scan for malware/keyloggers as well. Never click links anyone who talks like that sends to you for any reason and always instantly report/block in the future.

Make sure you check to see if you have an api key activate and if you do you need to get rid of it.
