Steam won't let me put steamlibrary folder where I wan't it
I don't know when it happened but steam must have changed the way it manages steamlibrary folders. Earlier it allowed user to browse for steamlibrary folder or allowed to create it anywhere you want. Now it only allows steamlibrary folder to be put only in the root folder of the drive so it looks like E:\Steamlibrary and i want to put it in E:\Games\Steamlibrary. I don't see option to move the folder or create it anywhere. Am I missing something?

It best to Install Steam client to programfiles x86
Go to Steam top left settings>library manager libray folder add new library folder on E drive.

I moved my game installation files to the USB drive Steam Library and make it default.

Thats old data you have on subject, Reason is Ransomware where and folder access to where program is installed and thats why steam has own ROOT Folder now, and the new way is total out of keep have to make allow rule per game or make it open.

as user discover own ROOT lib "E:\Steamlibrary"
ths point is you either have to accept this new way or keep get issue with securiry and who know what happend later if Security rise its level again in Program files folder. ( still your problem to deal with it, as user ) no game devs or steam even will touch or suggest user own choise. ) and in a few year noone care if you block own game.

message might not be clear to you, because you did not know better, but many that know how things work from when ransomware happend this is the new solution as steam default ways.

noone use Games folder anymore you need a very old app or game to work better in that folder with lesser security.

ps.
dont forget its 20 years old knowledge notr sure any will explan such anymore, dont install games there unless they already have issue with securiy.

if i recall correctly thats 16bit app.

I assume it already made on E drive, and Steam installed on C drive.

Do this, rename Steamlibrary folder add -old like so Steamlibrary-old. Now launch Steam, Steam will think folder gone, add new folder to location want it, and shutdown steam don't want it running, delete new folder, and place the Steamlibrary-old in it place, then rename it back to Steamlibrary, and launch Steam.

Thanks, I knew there was a reason. If it has to be this way, for security reasons, so be it.
