I wrote PC my man, using google. Windows 10 64x pro.
Google Chrome is a browser.
Firefox
Safari
Opera
The client is what you actually use to play games. If you're using Chrome then it's cookies are getting deleted which is why it's asking you for a Guard code.
I don't have any automatic cookie deletion on chrome, what can be causing that?
nope

https://www.opera.com/
Steam will write a secure cookie to tell whether you are on a new machine.
This thing has a lifetime of ~10 years.
You can check your browser console whether this cookie is present and has a value when u openeing https://store.steampowered.com/
https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/storage/cookies/
He said he was on PC because Arg0n asked in post #1 if Mr Fantastic was on iOS.
The OP also said Steam browser in the thread title, and on the post he wrote
Now, onto the problem itself. I believe your Chrome is refusing to store the cookies for your store.steampowered.com login.
Kindly double check and see if Steam isn't added under the filter of rejecting cookies. You can find it in;
• Open Settings in Google Chrome (three dots by top right as you know)
• Click Privacy and security and then click Cookies and other site data
• At the very bottom you should see three different filters, the last one would be Sites that can never use cookies. Make sure Steam isn't on there.
Also do follow Arg0n's suggestion in post #7.
Nothing seems off there, but I added steam to the list of sites that can always use cookies. Not sure it did anything.
Everytime I enter the browser version it asks me permission for optional cookies I always say yes, but it's never saved for some reason.

Steam cookies options have everything turned on.
Is it possible augmented steam is causing this? Or is it more likely a chrome issue?
Are there any chrome extensions known to cause issues like this? It's strange I have no problems with any other sites and I have a metric ton of them.
The cookie is there with a lot of info on it. Somehow it must be getting deleted by something.
It doesn't happen with any other sites.
The pc is clean, there's no virus or anything and runs great.
for example, you setup your anti virus program and/or anti malware program to do a full system scan which includes
1) delete web browser history
2) delete web browser cookies
i'm sure got anti virus programs and anti malware programs got such settings.
No, I have several other websites with automatic login and everything works fine, only one with this issue is steam.
I think epic also had a similar issue at some point but it's working fine now.
The one I use the most is likely amazon and never had any login problems.
Can you see the same behavior using another browser?
Step by Step
I believe it's a Chrome issue, however since we can't know for certain then Arg0n's previous suggestion about trying out another browser is a good way for us to know for certain.
However if you'd like to avoid the hassle of having to download another browser, uninstalling it when done with it and so on so forth, you could instead try with Microsoft Edge.
That browser is mandatory for Windows 10 and 11. Might as well make it useful once and for all, swiftly open Edge and visit Steam there.
See if it continuously asks for cookies each visit after accepting them.
