Steam Cloud keeps turning on
Hey gang,

Every time I restart steam, it keeps turning the steam cloud save feature on. I have limited internet and only really use it to connect to steam, so steam using tons of internet to upload/download without my permission is getting very frustrating. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue? It only started today.

Bump, problem still happening :(
Having the same problem. No solution found yet. And it's only happening with Skryim.
Bumping again with no solution. Happens to me for all games. Even the universal setting on the steam launcher app thing turns back on. I've tried turning it off for individual games and globally. Both of them turn back on if I restart steam.

It's an old post, but I don't think it has been resolved.

My solution is

1 - open the file with editor
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{{Your steam account number}}\7\remote\sharedconfig.vdf

You can find your steam account number at https://www.steamidfinder.com
It is the third value of steamID3.

2 - add a line to the "steam" object.
"cloudenabled" "0"

After that, enable/disable of this option will be fixed at your discretion.

If you are Korean, go to http://itcm.co.kr/9912210

That is a very good temporary fix. Thank you very much Arg0n. Hopefully they'll fix this soon so I can just disable it for specific games again. I still like cloud saves for my smaller games.
You're welcome =D
Ya, the last post in the thread is just a few hours old:

This started happening again this week, years later. Specifically for Fallout 4. I've disabled it at least 6 times in the last week and it keeps turning itself back on.

It seems they fixed it in the past and just broke it again >.<

Strange, as I use this trick just now and it fixes this anoying problem for me... :s
To be seen if it failed later on...
The same problem with me. I think it relates to the latest update. Several years ego, there was a similar problem not with only one issue but nearly with all settings. I wrote to the steam help and the problem has been solved. In that good old times, you could simply wrote your problem and could get a simple response. Nowadays, they want a report with a detailed analysis of your system regardless of the nature of the problem. The problem is created by the steam software which is independent from all user computer specifications, It seems that there is no channel to simply describe such problems other than this forums without forced to give system specific informations.
Still a problem in 2024- Valve, will you fix this?

Unfortunately this did not work. Steam Cloud turns back on and log files and configuration files are still loaded to the Cloud.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
