well i have this error and i found a way to fix it its simple
dont use your username from the steam app use your username from the website and thats the reason why it wont work because your using the name from the app instead the website

You could also always log in using the account name, including on the web site.

It does. The ACCOUNT name works everywhere.

OP, you login with login name, you don't login with display name.

Login names you can't change, nor alter, it's a forever fixed login name, and only one person can have said login name, that the only name you use for login on Steam either by browser, app, or client.

Display name is just what it is, for display, you can change it many times, whenever, and does not matter, as anyone can have the name.

An additional comment: If your password has special characters, you might need to wrap it in quotation marks "P@$$w0^d" This should allow you to log in correctly.
