Size of your display is irrelevant, resolution is.

Specifically, each monitor has a "native resolution", which is the number of pixels. If at all possible, your games should be set to this resolution. Your desktop should definitely run at this resolution.

Yes, select a resolution that fits the native resolution of your monitor.

Hard to say as you told us nothing about the game, your computer and the new monitor you've got.

I love these, "I need help, but my beliefs prevent me from using proper nouns. I'll respond repeatedly but you're going to have pry information from my cold dead hands", topics.

Unless you are playing in windowed mode, even the resolution should not lead to issues, as long as your screen can handle it. Playing a game in 640x480 will work just as fine on a screen, that normally runs at 1920x1440. What might more likely bother you is the resolution ratio. And that in turn is both related to resolution and screen size.
You say, your screen is larger. That's not specific enough. Is it wider or narrower than your old one compared to its heigth? Are your games giving you black bars on the sides or on top and bottom?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
