Just tell us the answer to this question, if you think we are wrong:
Publicado originalmente por Muppet among Puppets:
Ok, if you know better, tell us the difference between naming and shaming
and
defaming.

And how defaming excludes naming and shaming.

I am listening.

you cant see where we have stepped OUT of being cogent and congruent with terminology

and completely side-stepped into "austere interpretations" and "contextual injections" and "ambiguity" ??

honestly

actualy you know what, im not gonna spend the effort for your sick pleasure...
YOU answer first, since YOU are the volunteer with ALL the answers.
you're not distracting and derailing my point by talking apples and oranges anymore, NICE TRY.

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4045-USHJ-3810
i dont see the term "name and shame"

https://store.steampowered.com/online_conduct/
i dont see the term "name and shame"

https://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/
i dont see the term "name and shame"

the word "shame" is completely void from these documents...
perhaps you can provide some official documents where i can find this term?
if i've overlooked it (and my word filter somehow missed) , can you please reference what paragraph/section i can read this for myself?

kthx
Follow this rule, and you are good.
"(dont) Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others."

For others its easier to think, dont name and shame. But your english is better maybe, so you follow the rule with more words.

If you dont have enough about english words, read about defamation laws and how they relate to naming and shaming in their text.
the simple "qualifier" of "defamation" is "expressing untrue nature of another individual"

so in other words, if i tell a LIE about somebody... it's called defamation.

.... the context established for "name and shame" is to "express publicaly OR spread the misbehavior of a named individual."

you see?
you're trying to MERGE two words together!!!!
ONE definition is for telling lies and the other is some kind of protection FOR the misconduct...

CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

again, i agree... if you dont know these WORDS then WHY are you trying to offer input?

AND THE FACT YOU'RE SO PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE AND DISMISSIVE IS THE CHERRY ONTOP!!!

I begin to get the idea what went wrong when you talked with others who dont agree with you.

Last try to explain to you:
Defamation is a category of deed, naming and shaming is one element of this category. Namely, naming and shaming can lead to defame. And it also can hit people with the same name.

Do you get it now?
i understand you have an idea and you grasp at everything to make it manifest.

but in this instance you are mistaken.
just simply mistaken.

you're trying to merge multiple things and call it one thing.
Does defamation NOT include naming and shaming?

Answer my question, instead of quoting yourself in caps.

Answer this question, or turn your circles alone.

since you're pretending to be retarded just to be a nuisance....
something untrue is seperate from something true.
even tho the qualifier of being "true or not" is present
the two terms are to express TWO different concepts.

you understand we dont have "redundant" terminology in english, right??????
i mean.... slander, defemation.... cant you already interpret this for yourself?
presence of two diff words... structurally very different as well... phonetically different.... MEH THEY MEAN TEH SAME THING!!
but wait... ill check the dictionary... oh dictionary says diff things... BUT IM STILL GONNA INSIST THEY MEAN THE SAME THING.

i mean.... MOIST, WET, DAMP... all convey the presence of H20 right? but they convey DIFFERENT things.
RED, BLUE, GREEN - > these are COLORS, but they ARE DIFFERENT COLORS...
APPLES ORANGES, BOTH ARE FRUIT!! BUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT!!

No one here knows what happened. So even if there is a difference, for all we know, any naming and shaming could be a defamation.

Thats why you handle "personal" reports with support.

Maybe that is what we can agree on. And what people have in mind when they say, dont name and shame.
