upgraded my phone, cant add steam authenticator.

I upgraded my phone, I do still have the old phone and steam is connected. Installed steam on the new phone, it logged in fine, but I get an but how do I make that phone the authenticator phone/steam login.

How to remove? How to add it?

I have access to the account and steam, on both phones, but I want to move it to my new phone.

From the Steam Mobile app on your new device, try to log into your account. When the app asks for your authenticator code, select "Please help, I no longer have access to my Mobile Authenticator codes." Follow the steps the app provides and you can either transfer your authenticator to the new device or remove it from the previous device.

I think my problem with this is, how do I get the code to login, if I remove the authenticator from my old phone.

You removed it from your old phone already? Before you transferred it?

No, its still on the old phone, I dont want to remove it until I know how I am going to log in without it?

I did that a few weeks ago and I just deleted it from the old phone and logged in on the new 1.

I did use the original SIM card in the new phone if that matters.
