Steam Deck - ISO Files

This has been frustrating me to no end. I just want to play a game called Virtual Murder but it requires Windows 3.x (it's from 1993). I tried to use DOSBox but I got extremely confused regarding how one can even mount an ISO on the deck to begin with. I tried to create a sudo mount via the system terminal but it doesn't even let me get past the password because I never set one; it won't even let me set a password without using the "previous password," which, from what I understand, is non-existent. I need some help.

DOSBox can mount .iso files directly.

Have you tried running the game in Proton in case it has the WineVDM component?

I honestly wouldn't know where to begin with Proton. I installed Retrodeck to try to run the game - from my research, it used DOSBox Pure. When I tried to run the ISO there, it told me I needed Microsoft Windows.

I'm trying to learn as I go, but it's difficult with my limited pool of information that I've eclectically found.

I honestly wouldn't know where to begin with Proton. I installed Retrodeck to try to run the game - from my research, it used DOSBox Pure. When I tried to run the ISO there, it told me I needed Microsoft Windows.

I'm trying to learn as I go, but it's difficult with my limited pool of information that I've eclectically found.

If it's a Win16 game, Proton might be able to recognize it directly if it has the WineVDM emulator (note that Wine uses emulation for 16-bit due to 64-bit mode not supporting 16-bit tasks).
If Proton does not support it, try installing Wine and launching from that.

To run a Windows 3.1 app in DOSBox requires creating a raw HDD image, booting a DOS floppy image, formatting the HDD image, installing DOS from a floppy image, then installing Windows 3.1.
