Way to remember user name but not password?
The old Steam interface allowed me the option of having my User Name typed in and all I had to do was type in my password. This new system doesn't seem to have that function, I keep having to type in both. This is the biggest problem I have ever had in my life.

Is there a solution?

Yes; killing off the new login experience and allowing the old one to come back to front.
steam.exe -noreactlogin

Even with the new login experience, Steam actually still remembers the user name. Whoever did the poor job of building the new UI just wasn't capable of sourcing it to pre-populate the username field. Or didn't bother to put in the effort. And this is Valve we're talking about so the odds of it having gone one way or the other are about 50/50.

@RiO what do you mean "steam.exe -noreactlogin"? is that something that can be done on the user end?

It's your desktop icon. Right click on it, select properties then in Target add -noreactlogin

It will look like "Example of whatever it says" -noreactlogin

This reverts it to the original style.

I got the original style, but only have the option to save the password. Between the start of this thread and now, it appears Steam "fixed" this by removing that option. It appears that this is an option they consciously made a design choice to remove, for whatever reason.

For me this was fixed by unchecking Steam > Settings > Account > "Don't save account credentials on this computer"
