How do I use a different drive for downloading and installing?

As the title stated I'd like to know how to download games in let's say C drive but install in the D drive. I'm asking because when downloading/updating game I'm bottlenecked by the read/write speed of my SSD. Doing this would in most case allow to increase speed by twofold and also level the wear and tear between the two SSD.

Settings -> Downloads -> Content Libraries. Then you can install on other drive. You can also use symbolic links if you really wanted to.

this sounds like lots of unpractical work to then have both drives run down faster instead of just one with even more excessive copy-pasta of files.
