Stolen Steam decks

I just pre order my steam deck and I’m getting more and more worried about fed ex stealing the package and also many people on YouTube and redit are saying they got there’s stolen so vaule is there anyway you guys can try to prevent this. And is there options for different types of shipping providers? Thxs for the help and I pray others who got there steam deck stolen get a refund or a new one.

Most delivery drivers do not steal anything. People who got their package without issues tend not to make posts everywhere.

As stated numerous times before, most Steam Decks have been delivered without any issues and weren't stolen or lost. That's over a million Steam Decks at this stage.

The mass fearmongering is the reason why the Reddit sub has now moved all "FedEx/GLS stole my Deck!" posts to one place.

(Also, you're assuming all those people are telling the truth and not just sympathy farming for karma and awards)

Stolen Steam Decks are an exception, not a norm.

It seems like it's worse than it is because the large majority of satisfied users don't post about their experience on social media. So you're seeing an extremely biased collective perspective as people are more likely to post about their negative experience than their positive experience.

Mine was just stolen yesterday by FedEx. Came home from work to an empty package with no contents. Box had a clean cut. Still waiting to hear from Valve support. I know it's probably not a widespread issue, but regardless, it's still happening. I would recommend anyone who purchases a steam deck to do will call on their deck if possible.

Valve not only investigates each claim but they also insure each Deck. After they investigate, they will decide to ship out another right away depending how the investigation went.

I don't know what kind of package Valve is shipping, but it seems easy to find out Steam Deck inside.

Like this questionable support case, I think better to use strong purchase protection credit card. So you can claim to credit card company.

Little update: Valve reached out and offered to send a replacement requiring pick up at a local FedEx location. Kudos to Valve for quickly remedying the issue. Hopefully this time I'll actually receive it.

they have the steam deck logo on the box as well as the label says it’s a steam deck and how many gigs

It is happening, probably not widespread obv.

My steam deck empty box was delivered 30 minutes ago. I have already contacted Valve and Fedex. I found this thread while researching the issue.

The vast majority of Steam Decks would never be stolen. Plus delivery drivers wouldn’t be able to confirm that there’s a Steam Deck inside the shipping box either way. Even if a delivery driver wanted to specifically steal a Steam Deck, how would he be able to tell which box has the Deck and which box has a cutlery set etc? Maybe he can check the From address and confirm it came from Valve’s location, but that would way too much time digging through thousands of boxes just to find a box that originated from Valve.

I understand the box is distinct, but I believe the devices box be placed inside another box or wrapping? I recently ordered two guitars online, and the guitar boxes were inside some fancy plastic shipping wrap. The delivery drivers wouldn’t have known there were guitars inside.
