Downloads suddenly capped at 1.2 MB
Hi my downloads are getting capped at 1.2 megabytes per second at the moment, im not sure why, ive tried a speed test and im definitely getting higher than that and on steam it never even for a second goes above 1.2, in the past its been at like 9 or more so idk whats changed, I mean megabytes for the 1.2 and 9 btw its not just me mixing up megabits

Does anyone have any advice? Ive tried googling for a fix but havent found anything useful so far, thanks for any help

Did you try clearing the download cache?

I would like to second this question. I don't have the fastest broadband but I just speedchecked my pc at 25mbps. Steam has never downloaded at anything for me at more than 3mbps and quite often it's under 1mbps! When it's in that mood I usually have to just abandon the attempt for a day or so. For the last couple of days I've been trying to download XCom 2 and at 70g it's just pointless to attempt it. So frustrating.

Don't confuse MBit/s with MByte/s. Steam displays in MByte/s by default.
25 MBit/s is close to 3 MByte/s.
Changing Steam's current download region will solve this problem temporarily.

Turns out it wasnt just steam for me, on task manager it was saying network was 100% used at 9.5 megabits, looked and apparently solution is to change ethernet cable which worked

check your ethernet adapter settings. Ensure it is set to Gigabit Ethernet or better.
