4k vs 1440p anyone tried both?
What do you prefer and is 4k a notciable jump from 1440p?

It seems I can either do 1440p with ultra settings on most new games @60fps or try out 4k with maybe medium settings at 60fps.

Whats your setup and do you prefer higher frames over higher resolution? Just dont know if 4k will be worth it.

my current monitor is 4k and i must honestly say 1440p , i play ff13-2 on that resolution because of performance and it looks not much different in 4k
same for many other games , some might look really great in 4k , but they also look good in 1440p , in rainbow six siege i have to make some compromises to not get fps drops in 4k , in 1440p i can max everything and its fine without drops

also , wildlands looks great in both

give me a few minutes and i will make screenshots

and heres the one in 2160p max settings , around the same area in the benchmark ( i think i took it right during some motion thats why it looks a bit blurred

It's very noticeable in sharpness. But for the price of most good 4k monitors, you can get a good 1440p 144hz monitor. And 144hz > higher res 60hz.

I don't personally own either one. But have used both.

Tried both, 4k is great for big screens, but for desktop gaming, while not watching movies or looking at still or slow moving scenes, the added resolution doesn't make up for turning down settings and running at a lower refresh rate.

Just last night, my mate was saying how he kind of wished he'd stuck with 1080p or 1440p insteadcof 4k due to the refresh limitations.

If I could go back I would get the 1440 BUT, I am still very happy playing 4K ultra at 50-60 FPS., it looks amazing . Honest answer

Everyone who has AMD VSR or NVIDIA DSR capable GPU and a 1080p minimum display can try out res' such as 1440p or 2160p on these Displays. Which is best to do before buying a new display with such native res; so you can see if your current hardware can handle games at those higher res or not.
Horrifying Tits 2018 年 11 月 18 日 上午 9:27
nice, i didnt know that.
Bad 💀 Motha 2018 年 11 月 18 日 上午 9:46
On Display which is 1920x1080 native; can go into NVIDIA Control Panel and enable...

DSR --> 1.78X = 1440p | 4.00X = 2160p
DSR Smoothness % --> play around with this, usually below 15% is best; too high and it might throw off pixels and make the mouse cursor inaccurate.

Once applied then change Windows Desktop to the one you wish to try in-game.
If not change Windows Desktop to such res first, then all that the game can usually display is the max native res, so for example if I want to try a game @ 2160p (4K) then change desktop res to this first, then launch game and change game to that res as well. When done testing change everything back to 1080p to avoid issues with launching something later when DSR has been disabled.

1440p is a better choice, still looks great and unlike 4K you don't take such a big hit on framerate.

Even outside the game, you can tell the difference the moment you start moving your mouse and windows around.

DOOM is always the best game to test the fluidity with, because that game is so fast tempo to begin with, and it's relatively easy to get good performance out of it too.

well the monitor in question are both 27 inch 60hz, 1440p and 4k.

so im leaning towards the 1440p now as I think I would prefer max settings and stable 60fps at that resolution rather than 4k 60fps with reduced settings and potentially less fps.

I could be wrong but I feel its the best option for me.

A couple days ago I got an Asus ROG Swift PG278QR monitor (27", 1440p, 165Hz, G-Sync) on sale for $757CAD after tax normally goes for $960CAD. You really should consider one if you have a Nvidia GPU, very solid display!

im leaning more towards the acer predator one since my main monitor also is an acer predator
