'content servers unreachable' - nothing will download or update in steam
When I, or my roommate, try to update or install any steam game it won't work, resulting in one of two errors: 'content servers unreachable' or 'manifest unavailable'.

After spending hours each day for the past 3 days, following steams suggested troubleshooting, we have yet to succeed. Steam suggested nearly 20 methods. None have worked for us.

Internet works fine, steam functions in every way, except updating and installing - installed games (that don't require an update) run fine.

My roommate has had zero success, while I was able to update a game yesterday, but the problem has persisted.

Reading forums from 2012 and 2014 with the same issue, and same troubleshooting suggestions.

At a complete loss, looking for a solution, and for Steam to solve this bug.

Edit: I live in a home, and have control over our wifi - not a school wifi network. Have had zero issues until 3 days ago.

Boot your PC in safe-mode with networking and test your download.

Any luck?

I just went to try this. To connect to internet, I'd need ethernet cable while in safe mode.

I'm looking for a fix to the problem that will allow me to return to using steam the way it is has always worked for me. Not through using safe mode, or ethernet cable.

If it matters, I'm running a brand new (september) ASUS RoG laptop, and my roommate is running an ancient HP laptop. Problem occurred at same time for both.
