I've upgraded my Alienware laptop. It's messed up my controller. How do I fix this?
I upgrade my Alienware laptop to win11 yesterday. Launched Judgment (Yakuza/Like a dragon spin off) today. Steam thinks A is B, Y is X and vice versa. How do I fix this? I tried the controller layout settings in-game and steam settings, which didn't fix it.

Is the controller a Nintendo Switch Pro Gamepad or a third party version of it? Check if the Switch Pro support is enabled, including the button reassignment.

I didn't realize I didn't mention that it's an Xbox controller.

Official one from Microsoft, or a third party version of it?

Official. It's red and white one. Steam says it's a xbone controller. I haven't had a single problem with it. I did use my smash bros switch pro controller before I got that Xbox controller last year

When Steam is closed, open joy.cpl and check if the buttons react accordingly:

A = 1
B = 2
X = 3
Y = 4
LB = 5
RB = 6

I've checked them. The buttons reacted as you said. I've tested in Fall guys and Judgement. It's still not right. Which doesn't make sense

I just tested the controller on Bluetooth. It works fine. It looks like the USB wire it's always connected to is the problem :MICHIO:
