How to disable steam cloud warning
When starting a Steam game (Morrowind, Skyrim, Oblivion, etc.), the game hangs for about a minute and I get a warning "unable to sync Warning-Steam was unable to sync your <game name> saves with steam cloud, if you play now, you may not have previous game progress and you may permanently lose it"
I play these games in offline mode, and I have disabled steam cloud in my steam settings, but I still get this annoying warning. How can I disable this pop up warning? Thank you

You can't disable it, and you're not the only one. It affects everybody and all games. When Steam is in offline mode and a game is started for the first time during the session, you'll see the prompt (doesn't even matter whether you have Steam Cloud enabled or disabled).

It's also been mentioned in these threads:

And it's also been mentioned in the last couple of replies in this thread:

Looks like a certain "fix" broke it:

No solution yet, despite several people (myself included) having contacted Steam Support about it.

The best thing we can do is to create a Steam Support ticket about it, and wait for Valve to fix it.

It's a hassle.

Latest message I received from Steam Support concerning this issue (same as others):

Hello,

Thank you for your clarification.

Please note that due to changes to how the Steam Cloud works, Steam may still track files in autocloud.vdf files in order to better avoid any instances where data is overwritten if you ever do turn the cloud on.

This error message is intended to inform you of a possible future cloud conflict. Since you know this (as you already disabled the cloud), for now you can ignore it by clicking "Play anyway".

Currently there are no options to disable or remove the error message. I'll pass along your feedback for this though.

Along with reports submitted directly to Support, the Steam team uses a number of community sources to help investigate the frequency and severity of issues like this. These issues are continually being addressed through Steam Updates. Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.

Again, I am sorry that we do not have a fix for you at this time.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for using Steam,
Chun-Lin
