Steam Won't Allow Me To Play Multiplayer Games

I can't play multiplayer games with my friends like HALO or Gundam Evolution and I have no idea why. I have tried port forwarding, changing my i.p. address, firewall stuff, and multiple other things.

I'm able to play games like Master Duel but shooters for some reason it always disconnects me whenever I cue up for a match.

3rd party programs is preventing you or your friends from playing with one another.

in other words, someone is using a 3rd party program that somehow blocks the other person from playing with each other.

I believe I have found the problem. Somehow Discord is preventing me from playing, I uninstalled the desktop version and I was able to actually play some matches. I have not clue what the long term fix for this would be.

Typically disabling the overlay fixes that issue.

The overlay has never really been on. It was off when I checked the option in Discord. Reinstalling the program has definitely stopped me from playing.

Sounds more like you have bad wise regulators like QoS or other ip traffic or network mangement that reduce things , and then you simple dont have bandwide to its network traffic.

because most other steam user use Discord in pretty much anything, sure even steam own voice is there and other app, but that is a app that need traffic just like the game and you seem to struggle with bandwide somehow. thats upload with Download , and game do same, and it dont help if you are not alone on the local network. ( other user or service taht take bandwide away from you. ( or other app ) even steam DL while playing is possible.

in other words, OP is limited due to the Internet Service Provider that is in charge of his router, modem............etc.

The problem seemed to resolve when I got in contact with Discord tech support and they pointed me towards Discord PTB. More testing is needed but for now I can actually play games again.

I'm sure my internet is being throttled and trust me I will be getting in touch with them when I can, or at least hooking my my own router at some point.

Thank you all for the suggestions I will give an update if anything happens again.
