PS4 Controller isnt working

Hey guys,
a few days ago my ps4 controller stopped working. Its connected via USB. My computer isnt dedecting it,but its working on my dads computer. I tried deinstalling windows updates, deinstalling usb drivers, DS4Windows (isnt dedecting it eather). Tried other usb cabels, usb ports, resetting the controler, ps-button plus share etc. but still not working... If i plug it to the computer theres a short orange light. Hope you guys can help my, wanna play spiderman again :D

Were you previously using DS4Windows when things were working, or installed it after the controller stopped being detected?

The short orange light can just mean the battery level is high enough and so the controller isn't charging.

Sounds like its enabled but hidden, but none of the programms following is installed, its no copycat controller and i havent disabled the support for the controller :(

Ok, so checking out the Status error code led me to this https://www.reneelab.com/data-transfer-error.html

Try method 3 first. I think it displays an option to also remove drivers - have it do so. I think you can skip the reboot, just disconnect and reconnect, see if things start working...

Nope doesnt wwork for me, also tried updating the drivers. Gonna try to reset or update my BIOS and see if things start working again :) And thanks for your help buddy

Hey, no problem .
Hopefully you tried that earlier step but included a reboot - if that ended up being required and I was like "skip it"... :D

If the BIOS doesn't resolve things or other steps suggested from the link, here's another possible avenue:
I checked out how things look with my PS5 controller over UISB. In Device Manager, I choose View > Devices by container.

The DS4 would also show as multiple components but don't know if the error prevents that.
If it's multiple, does it show a part as having the error?

Could also check each part's Properties > Driver tab and check the driver dates, see if it shows something recent, or option to Roll Back a driver. I didn't think of this before trying the uninstall device step but the Events tab could be useful, with the timestamp you could see the info when it was good v bad. If not reset, select a timestamp and it'll show the info for it.

If that doesn't seem to indicate anything, my other thought, depending how your controller is in your Device Manager, is to compare the controller's entry in yours vs when connected to your dad's PC.

For me trouble shooting like that is OK but it's not for everyone, so do as you do. I get curious and want to see if there's a precise solution.

I made it work, had to recover windows, now its working again without a problem :D

I am wondering about this myself. I keep seeing videos where it states that you can simply "plug it in". But every time I do steam does not detect it in controller configurations. I have downloaded betterds3 to use my ps3 controller. I thought it would be nice to use the ps4 since I can actually see the ps4 button icons rather than tricking my computer that I am using an xbox controller instead.

So what I am wondering about is, does this "DS4windows" does the same thing as tricking my PC into thinking I am using an xbox controller? Or will it actually detect my controller as a PS4 and have the correct button prompts.

Hey :) DS4Windows should dedect your controller as a PS4 controller. Had that issue myself, but it changed to ps4 icons and i did nothing :D
