Steam not starting from D Drive
Some time ago I installed steam on my D drive. I didnt used my laptop for some months, but now im back. Steam and indowws have updated. But after this updates, steam isnt starting from my D drive anymore. I have uninstalled and reinstalled steam, restartet the laptop completely, but nothing helps. If i start the application normal from startmenu, no message and application appears. If i try to start the app as admin i get a message, that i cant access the application. If i install steam on C drive, it starts fine. But i dont have enough space left on C drive, so I have to use the D drive.

Any ideas?

I have installed steam now on C drive and can start it from there. But i have installed Ark Survival on D drive and got the "Access denied" error 0x5 hen i try to start the game. If i check for errors, no error is found.

You have something that is preventing applications from running, or at least from the folder where Steam and the games are installed on the D drive.

Sounds like something screwed up the Windows permissions on the drive.
But you might want to check the drives for errors just in case.

I have now taken over, the ownership of the folder and from that on, i could start Ark as usual. Since this is a new folder (created from the installer) , i have no idea why i have this behavior. Most of the time i use Linux and also played Ark there. But i have 20 fps more when i play on Windows. With most other games, i see the complete opposite...

But ok, the issue seems to be solved as of now. Windows is a strange thing, at least for me :-) Im happy that i can do all other things on Linux, which is much more practical in my opinion.

Many thx for your help.
