DirectX Runtime issue

So, I just updated to Windows 11. DirectX 12 is already installed, but when I try to start the game Stray, I get a message telling me that I need to install DirectX Runtime. I've verified that it's installed and working properly. What is the problem here?

Can you run dxdiag?
Press the Windows key and type "dxdiag" in the search and you should find it.

Then choose your display tab and check the driver info on the right hand side: https://imgur.com/QlzHTk5 (sorry it's in german :x)

There you should see the installed DirectX version like 12_1 a.k.a 12.1 and so on ^^
Are they there? And are there any listed problems?

It's DirectX 12. Supposedly DirectX is running normally.

And you can also spot a DirectX 11 version there?

No - and I've checked sources, which say that DirectX 12 is required for Stray.

Also, Steam says on the Stray page that DirectX 12 is required.

Hmmm... my source is only a reddit comment of a random user, which was linked on Strays pcgameswiki page as reference[www.pcgamingwiki.com]: https://imgur.com/a/tiyMdDf

PCGamesWiki also claims that DirectX 12 is supported, but not required. I could always trust the infomation in PCGamesWiki, because it comes from actual user input instead from a Journalist copying some stuff from a press release. But you never know ^^

It was fixed by installing .NET (I don't know which version they used) and then reinstalling DirectX.

That was a Windows 10 issue, but I'll give it a shot.

And, nope. Neither will allow me to install, because both are already installed on the machine.

Only when you apply the -dx12 launch parameter, it will run with DirectX 12.
Did you already try the -dx12 launch parameter?

I have no idea of how to do that. Steam is new to me - I only got it because I really wanted this particular game.

Go to "There is also a way you can set launch options for any game" and there's a step by step guide on how to add launch options for a game.

Ah, man... Thank you! Someone on Facebook told me to right click my desktop icon for steam - I don't have one, I don't do desktop icons - and there would be an option in the context menu for launch options. That's all he told me. I couldn't find launch options on any .exe file or shortcut, so I abandoned that idea.

This is great info. I'm about to step away from the computer for a while - I'll let you know if this works.

DirectX 11 is old as f*ck ^^
You can run it with a GTX 460, which was released in 2010 =D

Anyway, yes, I do. I'm running an MSI AMD RX 6700 XT with 16 GB RAM.
