How to run a game in High Priority mode?

Is there a Launch command line to run a game in High Priority?

In certain Source engine games, yes. Use the -high launch command to launch a specific Source engine game in high-priority mode.

The -low argument is used to launch Source games in low-priority mode; such launch parameters may not work in other games due to different engines.

Games dont actually need that, unless somethings seriously wrong. Better fix the problem (too much crap running in background).

Incorrect and unhelpful. Some games absolutely do need that.

For example XCOM 2 is not well optimised and only runs smoothly with high priority, but by default will launch with Below Normal priority, so even on a high-end system with nothing else running it will experience significant frame drops due to CPU-bottlenecking.

Switching it to use High priority solves the bottlenecking, however switching priority through Task Manager only changes priority for the current session, and next time it is launched it will be back at the default Below Normal priority.

Some do. In other cases, it's a matter of either treating symptoms or cargo cult.

Says more about a toaster pc then you need to fiddle with that, im not here to defend game devs own mistake in game engine, but most of them have a optimized range or scope of PC that fit game requirement, thats why they made it,

this dont explan why OP think change High Priority mode, you can also stress the app with that,
mods and other things , and it dont explan if that pc is update or user make own system setup mistake with lack of free resource,

so technicaly Reboot is correct, this is same as OC, i have seen OC work and system boot up, but the minute you make other task in system you drag or busted the OC in not work as smooth as before.

i dare OP and you for think change something to fix other issue, this says alot about your OS and the trouble its in, maybe ask Game devs whats wrong. they dont come here and defend themself.

if you notice OP dont mention pc spec or game name, say alot about own skill in missing information.

my point is either you doing to many things on the pc and lack system resource or pc dont live up to game requirements.

take a older pc try play games is barely build for is seen as most issue by many gamers and they already know it, slow start up and run games to end game playing its slugish and more heavy almost feel like crash and some do. ( and what if you as user think its okay to stress pc with High Priority mode as a fix, you might just make it worse or crashable ) this is why Reboot is correct.

if you ask game devs did they test for High Priority mode, im sure they say NO

And welcome to the club with no point other then make yours about others, did you actual read steam forum rules or do you need to now.

We told OP change or fiddle with standard might work or get it worse , did you actual read Priority mode and why warning is there, next user might set it on max sense i can, opps did i say that RED warning is stress a app without game devs know you did it, i hope you strees you game and crash your save game then you will learn what corruptions of data is.


and again i point out Game devs do not know you did this, then you sit a cry later with things not working.

and any techician or supporter, will not check for this as first idea whats wrong.

then you change default or fiddle with none standard settings you should make sure you never forget you did it, ( try lookup supporter cost, and why game devs says im sorry we cant help you then it dont seem to be a problem on our test pc's have a nice day )

Problem solved, bug in base engine code.
