How Can I Recover my Steam Cloud Save Data?

So a friend came over and he logged into his steam account through my computer to show me his progress in Nier Automata (a game we both have) and in order to do so an option appeared allowing him to download his steam cloud save files. He booted it up and his save data was there as expected. Later on I opened up the game myself back on my account to find that my save data was reset; with the title screen opting for me to start a new game with no "Continue" option in sight. Essentially, I've been looking through the local files as well as trying to figure out how to re-download my own cloud files. So far I'm not getting much luck. Anyone know what I can do to get my save back?

Delete the saves from the other player. (Backup before, in case yours are in that folder too).
Restart steam.
Cloud should create your saves at next start of the game.

That is, if the implementation of the game is right and you didnt upload those files as yours.
