Steam account HACKED. New bot in STEAM. WATCH OUT! HELP!
So, my steam account at https://steamcommunity.com/id/adderallinveins got hacked today.

My steam account is changed, my steam account email is changed, and i've seen it change once more later, my steam mobile authenticator is removed, my steam mobile phone was removed.

I got a message on steam from a close friend, and without much thought i clicked on it and logged in.

The site is [removed]/ DO NOT LOG IN THE SITE, IT WILL TAKE YOUR ACCOUNT!

I've succeeded at sending a support ticket but i doubt it will do much help.

I've got logged out of steam on every device including my Mobile authenticator.

Every person who gets hacked in the same way will start sending the same bot message to everyone in their friends list, and my friend got caught in already.

This is the friend who also got his account hacked: https://steamcommunity.com/id/shemzer0/

Please help me. I can't provide any steam game codes since all games i got were free from humble bundle. I've recieved a 5e steam wallet giftcard from https://steamcommunity.com/id/tlcs a few days ago which i still havent spent. I've owned that account for a long time and have many hours in it.

My account has started sending bot messages to my friends and i hope noone else gets caught in it.

I can provide information about my account if needed, but it doesn't have a registered payment card.

I have got many friends that can provide information about me owning the account if needed.

Is there's a way to get the account back using the old email or my mobile phone number?

Please help me.

The scambot then chains forward to other people via the hijacked account. Ya'll try to be smarter than adderall :tf:

It is outrageous and honestly extremely disappointing to find that bots like this even exist and that getting our accounts back from them is such a hard problem for steam to handle, we put our trust in this platform through daily use by using it to play games as well as communicate with friends, if even the communication aspect of this platform has been breached to allow bots like this to hijack accounts it really causes a lot of turmoil and lack of trust in steam, fix this and get these people their accounts back. The fact that it is so hard/has even taken this long is disappointing

I hope steam notices how many accounts start sending the same message right after their password is changed, their mobile auth is removed and their phone number removed. Also i can provide the ip adress from which the login was made, but i doubt they were not using a vpn.

With all the information available and the measures that have been put in place to prevent account theft, you still can’t force users to pay attention.

The weakest link in any security system will always be between the keyboard and chair.

Valve can only provide so much security. The only thing that needs to be “fixed” is peoples’ stupidity.

Valve put so many locks and safety measures in place but people still give away their log-in information, passwords, and Steam Guard codes. If you give a copy of the keys your house to criminals, are you going to blame the police when you are burgled?

Valve doesn’t allow these bots to hijack accounts. Users do.

Police actively look for suspicious people that may be burglars in order to prematurely stop a potential burgle attempt by arresting them, if steam/valve looked to ban these bots before they hijack then the platform would be a better place

Unless the police can prove that someone was going to commit a crime, it is a huge risk for them to arrest someone who is just acting suspiciously. Mostly from the false arrest lawsuit the will happen. It's just like loss prevention in a store, they can't arrest someone for putting merchandise in their pocket until they try to walk out the store without paying for it. Until they try to leave, no crime has been committed.

You would wonder what happens if you insert your bank login in a fake window

This right here is the best advice that people who give away their login information and come crying on forums after will ignore.

No "hacking" involved

It's called phishing and requires the owner of the account to give away information they shouldn't.
