Steam not allowing sharing games to friends anymore?
So I tried out Steam Family Share (even though none of my family members are gamers at all) and it seems there's no option to authorize my PC for my friends to try out the games I have in my library. It worked back in 2015 when my previous friend volunteered to share games for me to try them out, but it seems I myself am unable to do the same thing. Even the Friends option from the Settings is ommitted as well, so I'm pretty much stumped at the feature.

Anyone knows how to make it work without going through so much hassle?

You need to visit your friend, log in on his PC, and authorise his computer for family sharing. Don't forget to log out afterwards!

Well, damn. A friend of mine managed to get Family Share to work back in 2015 and only played a game or two. If they changed it, then welp. Steam clearly despises sharing after all.

If only it's that possible, yet none of my RL friends use Steam, much less play PC games. The only time I did family sharing was a friend of mine in the US authorizing PC for me to use (as I live in Puerto Rico, ofc). It seems either Steam made it impossible, or just don't want friends from around the world to share.

Either he revoked it or...

Can I share my games with users that don't live with me?

While Family Sharing can work for users that are not accessing Steam from the same location, due to technical limitations, the feature may encounter issues that Steam is unable to provide support for.

Just another reason why not living with the sharer causes issues.

It's called family sharing, not random-people-over-internet sharing :Saboteur:

It's name is familyshare not friendshare, and was made for inhouse-sharing, hint; you need to login to the users computer to authorize it.

And yet this method was done around 3 years ago, as shown here[s33.postimg.cc] by a previous friend of mine (who doesn't live the same area as I am).

I'll admit, the "not random-people-over-internet sharing" made me laugh a bit. :P
