Steam Blurrying Adult Pictures
With the new Steam policy they allow everything except for straight up trolling and illegal content in the community and store, does this mean that we can now put adult pictures as our profile avatar?

their automated system will blur the picture anyway but most people I guess 99% will just turn that option off in their settings to stop seeing blurred stuff.

Their TOS however hasn't been updated yet

So I'm just looking for opinions and if possible, facts to clarify this to prevent any possible bans and penalties from Steam. Thanks.

No you can't put up those as your avatar. Nothing has changed with user generated content rules. The blurring on screenshots and artwork is pretty harsh as of now as it blurs things that are not really bad.

Do you have proof or saying for yourself?

They are blurring the pictures instead of banning them, they warn people that the content they are viewing may contain nudity, this along with the automated recognition system shows that they do allow them.

They themselves said in the blog post that they're gonna allow everything. you can't allow a game containing nudity but ban people who take screenshots of their games.

You've provided the proof yourself:

That would have been updated if the rules had changed. It hasn't, so they haven't.

Guess what, my friend had nsfw picture and they unbanned them when he asked steam support, how about that for proof?

The article might be old or they just forgot to update it.

Or one individual Support person might just be clueless about where the policy is at right now. If you re-read the blog entry, especially the last paragraph, it will remind you that Valve expect it to take them a while to get this right.

The blog entry was written a week and a half ago. You don't honestly expect major changes in that short length of time, do you?

Well now this makes more sense.

Stick to the strictest rules you can find unless you're willing to live with the consequences.
