I can't install steam launcher
Every time I try to install steam, I get an error: Exclanation mark in a yellow triangle, without any text or explanation.
I can't install it into either drive. Could anyone help?

Try installing steam with an older version. My friend had the same problem and I told him to install the .exe downloaded from filehippo, a webpage that u can download and install older versions of software, and it worked for him!
I let you the link if you want to install it
https://filehippo.com/es/download_steam/57732/

Ok I got it... I just created a new folder in C:\Programs(x86) called Steam2 and I installed there...

I solved it a while ago, steam just had a remaining folder somewhere that I didn't see, had to delete that.

Last comment about deleting any folder named as steam in C:/Programs Files fix it. Thank you

I had a similar problem this morning.
I was trying to install steam on D:/*example folder*
The thing is that I just had the steam installer in the same place as I was trying to install it A.K.A D:/*example folder*
So I just made a folder inside the folder and installed steam there.
That fixed it for me.
Some of you might have this problem too.

Thank you! Only this worked for me. There's a remaining folder named "Steam" in C:\Programs(x86) that I can't delete

im glad it work, but i still think you should contact steam support,
they might want to know, why steam user lost rights to default install path.

Now in 2020 I still had the same problem!!

No explanation was given, only a yellow triangle. Installing it in a different folder did work. i wanted to put steam into the standard folder though.

found this thread, then figured it out that there might be a steam folder existing, deleted it and it worked.

Thanks! they should really fix the installer!
