Those gradients that Valve added are awfully ugly.
Actually I wouldn't even call them gradients, more like "graynbows".
And somehow they think they had a winner with that big picture button. That's one of the first things that should have changed.
There are so many things wrong with the UI, all I can do anymore is shake my head.
They hardly listen to anyone but themselves anyhow.
It's like, ♥♥♥♥, if only I didn't have so many games on this POS.
Thank you SOOO much. The GameBanana skin was working and making everything the old skin for everything but the icons in the taskbar and system tray. This fixed the taskbar icon. Now the only thing that's new is the system tray and it's so small and out of the way that it probably won't bother me. You are a lifesaver.
No problem! :)
You might check some skins out. I think there are some that look very simlar to old one.
EDIT: Found that on steam forums, maybe thats what are you looking for:

Cheers.
There's quite a lot of people that prefer the old style over the new one, actually.
I adjusted the fontsize to 16 because it just fits me better.
Was wondering one thing though. Is row space, if that's the correct word, adjustable?
The spacing between lines in the chat window.
With 16 it just looks pretty wide. Wondering if it's possible to adjust it somewhere in the code?
What changes cannot be fixed by using a skin? From what I've skimmed, it sounds like the only one is active downloads/synching not changing the icon.
Because I generally use a skin. I am right now; I'm using Invert v2.90. I used to use halinads until it was no longer updated, and then a while thereafter too. I actually prefer a light background. Maybe I should try this new default skin just to see what it's like...
The skin also does not fix the small font change Valve did. Vlve changed the font from one type of arial to the default arial font.
I don't think row space can be changed, but I could be wrong.
And did the blue/green borders on online/in-game friends' avatars get thinner? It was better thicker, but not something I can't just import from another skin...
The font changed from a type of Arial (Don't know which type) to the default Arial.
And yes, they indeed get thinner. They're still thick in this discussion as you can see.
It is against regulations and can indeed get you banned, sadly.
That is very disappointing indeed. Ah well. Thanks for the quick response.
