Streamed game video frozen even with good connection
Hello, ive recently started to stream games from my home pc to my laptop/mobile.

At first it mostly but suddenly one day the video is now always frozen with the bad connection icon showing.

Im using the vodaphone 4g from my phone to stream, while at house theres a wifi.

In the beginning i could stream just fine. At 2/5 bars of signal it would freeze, 3/5 would be mostly fine with some rare spikes and at 4/5 it would be pretty much flawless at 480p/30 fps.

Now no matter the connection the best i can get is for it to connect and show basically a screenshot of the game which i cant interact with. This happens no matter the connection quality. Doing some speed tests on average i get around 40-50mbits but when i try to do the network test it either goes 100% frame loss or successfully connects up to 3 mbits.

Streaming on the house connection works just fine.

Ive tried reseting all options, no progress.

Any idea?

Thanks

Looks like your network indeed sucks. Losing packets or disconnecting to connect at a lower speed when used means your network sucks.

Or your phone. There's the tuny possibility that your phone's modem weirds out but the most likely culprit is your carrier.

I definitely dont doubt that it might be the case but i can watch 1080p videos on youtube without issue yet streaming at 480p seems to lead to 100% frame loss?

so yeah, streaming @ 480p leads to 100% frame loss. Your provider REALLY doesn't like game streaming it seems. Either that, or their infrastructure isn't fit for the challenge. Either way, you observe game streaming leading to 100% loss.

Latency is the key issue here: with YouTube, it doesn't matter whether a packet takes 10ms to you or a second, as long as you get enough video to keep on watching. With game video streaming, you want REALLY low latency so the result of your input arrives in time. Meaning a crapton of small packets. Fun fact: craptons of small stuff to tend to congest computer IO (this applies to storage as well as networking) more, than fewer large packets.
