[SOLVED] Remote play issue, can't close game remotely
When the host computer has low internet, or some connection issue, my remote play on steam cannot shut down a game. It gets stuck running for however long it takes to return to the host (days!?) and cannot close game. Cannot play games on devices until remote computer is shut down: "Please close ____ first", etc.

Remote play 'connects' and plays background music, but not enough to hold ESC and complete a shut-off of the game. Happens on multiple games.

UPDATE: Still running a game. Doesn't load to a place I can remotely quit game. Shows Game banner loading screen, plays the music (partially connected). Restarted nearby (client) computer, no effect. I'm downloading a game which flashes a partial loading screen for a few seconds, hopefully I can quit it on remote (host) computer screen. Have had this issue a few times. Host computer Windows 10, client computer tried Linux or Windows 10

Finally got it to stop remotely. Started the same game locally, waited a couple minutes for Steam to manage to shut down remote session game.

STILL: Please allow some kind of "Force-Stop" for remote play games through Steam, not just reliant on streaming environment!

Thank you, wise person from the past! I had exactly the same problem and you helped me find a work-around.

I didn't have a local copy installed but I didn't start the same game, just any other Steam game to force the remote connection to shut down.

But yes, we defintely need a fail-safe to make sure apps don't just keep running remotely. More troubleshooting tools, basically.
