I got scammed

I got scamed for my whole inventory for rust, i wanted to turn my items into gift cards for "Valorant", but when i traded the guy all my items he just blocked me and unfriended me from discord and steam. He switches his names whenever he scams, his previous names are [removed][removed][removed]. If he tries to scam you dont trade with him. He said that he is going to give me a knife for free beacause this month is his birthday but i never recieved it.

In future, use common sense. That would have prevented you from falling for this.

Only trade Steam items for other Steam items, and only in a single transaction. Any "I'll give you X after you give me Y" is a scam.

Now, this is a scam, you could really have foreseen.

You explicitely agreed, that "This is a gift and you do not expect anything in return", when you created the trade.
The way this went, you won't even have a base for an account report, because you were foolish enough to do the talking on an external platform. All that Valve knows is, that you sent items to a friend of yours.

You should never agree to trade with someone if their offer is separate from something you can trade directly through Steam. This is the most basic scam, unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about it though since Valve doesn't return scammed items.

The gift card/promise scam is ancient and applies to a host of online platforms and services. Never trade outside of the protected windows on Steam and if anyone wants a gift card for something, it is always a scam.

The scam is probably the most obvious ones in existence and there's far more complex ones with dire consequences so take this as a lesson learned.

Sounds like a trick someone would try on a gullible person from another culture. "Uh, yeah, you see here we have this thing were during the month you were born you buy other people gifts. Really expensive ones. Buy me an iPhone."

i trusted him beacause he looked legit, he had 7k trades and was 104, but silly me didn't think enough, that these stats can be from scaming aswell 😂

Trades on record and Steam level is not something to measure credibility and not an excuse to make arrangements outside of the protected windows. Both these aspects can be botted easily for false credibility anyway and having a YouTube channel is also worthless.

The only people that can be trusted are those that use the trading windows appropriately and make fair offers that you'd deem acceptable.
