Joystick and Virtual Keyboard

While using my Xbox 360 joystick, a keyboard often appears that overlaps every other image and pauses the game. I can only make it disappear by turning off the joystick.
Is there any way to get rid of it permanently?

I'm having this problem too, even when i'm using non steam games, though with an xbox one controller. I never use this virtual keyboard and would also like a way to either disable whatever shortcut it's using or remove it forever.

Alright I found a solution that works (though it probably messes up big picture mode a bit if you use that.) go to view -> settings -> big picture configeration, then unbind everything in default and on screen keyboard.
