OBS recordings of the older Source games gets cropped when uploaded to YouTube
EDIT: It was a problem with the resolution. I just recorded some hl2 gameplay after setting the resolution to 1080p, and the video is showing properly.

It's happened to both my Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 recordings, Is it caused by the lower default resolution these games have? Or is it something else? It didn't happen with Garry's Mod, and I've set the resolution for it to the native resolution.

Check the recording with the preview window and adjust accordingly.

It shows perfectly fine in OBS and while watching the mp4 file before uploading, it only looks the way it does after I upload it.

Does that include after you let YouTube finish the "processing" part? Or are you not waiting for everything to fully complete?

Yes.

OBS is very slow app. If you use 2PC system (1 for game, 1 for OBS), it would be fine.
If you use one machine, you may get lagged result.
As I use, I prefer Nvidia's Shadow Play (Alt+F9) is most high quality recording.
ex) 4K 60fps

Neither of these seem to take on the issue that the size difference (cropping) happens after uploading to youtube.

OP - You should double check the settings for uploads, ensure nothing is being hit that can alter any of it. Sounds like the issue is somewhere with the YouTube settings if anything. Uploaded stuff with OBS Studio without issues before.
