gameoverlayui.exe Is it a virus?...

I reset my pc and i downloaded steam to play games and i tried virus scan program called McAfee and it says 1 issue found its gameoverlayui.exe
so i want to know gameoverlayui Is it really a virus?
(If I use the wrong grammar, I'm sorry, I'm not good at English.)

I use only two, window security and McAfee, can you recommend another program for me?:sarah6:

Windows Security alone should be enough if you follow simple internet security steps. Anyway, just set Steam to the McAfee whitelist.

I would assume its a pre-built PC.

Obviously only the OP can answer that question. But anyway as long as McAfee doesn't produce more warnings about stuff that get used like an Overlay.

McAfee got better again but I still wouldn't use it. Compare 2021/22 with like 2012 and older https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/manufacturer/mcafee/

I just discovered that same file running on my computer when using the volume mixer (I usually lower the volume of games so I can listen to a podcast in parallel).
I found it striking that the file has the same icon as Steam. That's why I don't know if it is official software or some kind of malware. I searched for information on google and came here.

Had the option to enable some form of Mc via ISP or mobile...can't remember which. Rather jab a spoon in my eye socket than use it. I like to think if it wasn't for businesses paying to provide them completely or partially to their customers Mc would have died long ago
