On your library list it might be there but under GAMES as its uncategorized by you yet.
You might also want to temporarily toggle the "Only show installed games" setting.
I always have that on because scrolling through anything above 200 games can already get annoying, maybe double check if it's not on?
Although i do think it should pop up regardless if you use the search bar at the top of the library.
Do try restarting steam if you haven't yet as well, make sure to check your task manager and check if all steam processes completely shut off before starting it back up.
did your friend check their "gift history" and "trade history" too.
what if your "friend" got scammed and he never notices it.

Ensure that you are trading with the correct person
Scammers often try to impersonate friends and trusted traders. Make sure to review the information in the trade offer to ensure you’re trading with the correct person. It is your responsibility to verify who you are trading with.
Steam provides plenty of information within the trade offer, including how long you’ve been friends, Steam level, how old the account is, and what groups they are moderators of.
