Can i download the OST separate from the game?
One game I'm looking at has a great soundtrack, but I only want the soundtrack itself. I've noticed the tag for the DLC saying that it can't run without the base game, but I'm not sure if that fully applies to OSTs. What I want to know is, is it possible for me to buy only the soundtrack, download it, and listen to it, without needing to have the base game? Thank you.

OST can not be downloaded seperately. They are part of the installation package if you download a game and it offers a OST you own.

What you can do after downloading the game, go into the folder where it is installed and copy out the OST folder which usually is found under BONUS or OST. And copy it over to your Music collection.
That is what i do with games that offer OST DLC. So i dont have to redownload the game in the future just for the OST.

Thank you, sir. I very much appreciate it. A good 8 dollars saved.

No, you can't buy DLC to a game without having purchased the game.

Soundtracks are considered DLC by Steam.

There are legit sites like Bandcamp that might have the Soundtrack you want for sale.

Yeah still, it's something that Steam really should change. There is no reason for a soundtrack DLC to be actually treated like a DLC...

Same for other "deluxe edition"-type DLC, like art"books" and stuff.

Still works for DLC soundtracks.
Just did it for the Payday 2 OST that's a DLC.

Though you can't buy DLC without owning the base game, so it's moot.
