Is there any way to make Steam input/overlay hide the controller?
Hi, I like to play my Steam games with a controller but binding the buttons to keys and using the gyroscope and right stick as mouse. In theory the game shouldn't see a controller but kb+m, and in some games (Doom 2016 or Eternal) it doesn't even let me configure the mouse.

But the game is still prompting the controller buttons, so Steam input/overlay doesn't hide the controller to the game, and precisely that is my question: is there any way to do this?.

I know technically is possible (because with reWASD, under the same configuration, the game can't see the controller, only kb+m). But I don't know if there's any way to do this with Steam (and, at least for now, I prefer Steam input to reWASD)

Thank you very much.

I've found with Hollow Knight (mapping gamepad to gamepad), Steam hides the controller on Windows but not on Mac or Linux (don't know if that remains the case when pad to KB). I've carried out a test with Mafia II on Windows, binding pad to M+KB using the keyboard template and only had M+KB prompts.
Win10 + 8BitDo Pro2 controller via 8BitDo adapter (so "wired" as far as OS is concerned).

If you're not doing it already, see if you get a different result when using the keyboard template.

Perhaps the game you're trying supports the Steam Input API and that's why it's giving prompts based on the device and not on the inputs.
Is it just prompts or is the game also following gamepad commands?

Thank you, I will try. The keyboard bindings actually works, it is only that the prompts are for the cntroller and sometimes this drives me crazy.

Thanks again
