CD-keys for older retail games
Hi guys! Is it possible to see the CD key that I've used to activate one of my retail games in the library back in 2014? I tried every single method floating around the Internet, but it seems that there are no "CD-key" button out there anymore. Ubi support is 100% sure that Steam is still showing the codes and it's my one and only hope to receive an access to my Ubi account.

No. Not getting the license key from Steam is pretty normal, I might add. For the far most games on Steam, you don't get license keys.

Considering Ubisoft changed how games are activated and no longer require CD keys, Ubisoft support either has no idea what they are talking about, were trained with outdated information or are simply lying to you.
There is no button to see keys anymore on steam. Looked at an old ubo game.

False. There still is games giving you keys.
Thank you. To broaden the horizon - I've lost my e-mail linked with Uplay many years ago, but the account is still very much alive having PSN and Xbox live accounts linked (I play a lot). Console history is a strong 'nope' for them though - I recently came back for PC/VR gaming, wanted to change my e-mail address used for Ubi credentials and they said 'okay, we can see a game that you've activated on Steam on 2014, please check the CD-key directly on Steam PC Client and we will cross-check that as identification method'. Without it, they refuse to even unlink my PSN and Xbox accounts :D so basically the account is bricked.
which game are they referring to as the one you activated back in 2014?

Call of Juarez Gunslinger. It sits safely in my library as well in 'View licenses and product key activations' tab under Account details, marked as 'retail' with specific activation date (no CD key information there though) - the screenshot of that is not enough for them. Yeaah. Well, wish to have Anno 1800 on Steam shop, oh how I'd wish...

i am not sure this would work, i doubt it but it is worth a short but try:
"windows button+ r" then paste this into it: steam://cdkeys/204450
if you are stuck on "Requesting key..." then you are out of luck finding the cdkey.

Which ubisoft games have that button?
So Ubisoft can request Steam to remove game keys from view if they really wanted, and it's pretty dumb IMO, but I have some Ubisoft games with keys still such as few assassain creed games, and such. Now for Call of Juarez games, I don't know if they gave keys for any of them as I don't remember ever getting one at all for them. I remember something about for Ubisoft they put the key in game files, not sure from top of my head, unless they change that up overtime, as not sure myself on this.

Anyways if you have other Ubisoft games, that you did redeem keys for, I suggest checking those such as assassin creed games 3 and up, or far cry 1 ~ 4, rayman, ghost recon, or etc...
I am sure fc3 had a key button. But its gone. At least right click shows nothing related to a key.

Oh it did, like for whatever reason Ubisoft choose to hide keys from view, they're not removed from our accounts just hidden AFAIK, some of the assassain games I have still have them, FC1 and 2 still have it, for whatever reason I notice most of my other games don't have the keys anymore, and I know they had keys.
My fc2 does not show the key. Where do you see it?

Thanks a looot. This is the closest I've come to solving the problem :) Unfortunately; it's stuck at 'requesting key'. I've tried with different App IDs from my library - none of them worked. Even Burnout Paradise (the one and only that still have "CD Keys" in "manage" tab is stuck in that window.

So I believe it's Steam decision, not certain publisher's approach. Do we have any official information about the upcoming lack of possibility to check the used activation Keys?

The situation is absurd as I'm fighting for a 'living' account with a record of multiple console games throughout last 10 years - all of them has a record of playing or even spending their Ubitokens or however it's called :D I have all credentials for cross-linked accounts, literally dozens of proofs that I'm the owner...

...and yet they've pointed a dead Steam's feature as my one and only backdoor to play their PC games.
Hurray.

Point is, it needs to be an item purchased ages ago via Uplay and redeemed on Steam or however it might have been cross-linked in the past. I have no idea, but they did not make it THAT easy:)

Thanks for all your voices, appreciate a lot. I just realized how I missed Steam. :3
