Mobile Authenticator Not Sending SMS Code?

My main phone's battery died so i'm using my old phone. I disabled phone guard from pc (and also logged out of all devices) and now i'm trying to enable it on my phone, but when i get to "Step 1 Enter the SMS code we've sent to your phone" i'm simply not getting any messages. Also when i click "Click here to resend it." it just says "Missing or invalid form session key."

Any ideas as to what i can do to fix this?

Doesn't work for me. I tried to setup steam guard, and initially it worked to add the number, but when I click now on steam guard, I don't get a SMS. So it is not a problem of my phone, I do get SMS. Looks like Valve has to fix it.

Hey guys, I got that freaking issue and manage to fix it.

For myself the problem is that I deactivated Steam Guard email verification and put it off. Then when I enabled back, it finally sent me the SMS

Well, faced the same problem and I kinda solved it, although not without additional problems. So the gist is that you have to change the number in your Steam account in PC. And only after that I received SMS to connect Steam Guard.

ahjhswhfjdshfsofhdso. i need help for the love of god, i have tried EVERYTHING here and NOTHING worked. so please give me ANY solution to this problem. i tried my pc i tried the app, i did a bunch of SH** to make it work and nothing worked. i got a new phone recently and i never added a phone to my account before and i need it for something. its a Samsung and i am out of ideas

In Mi Messages, under "settings" there is an option called "Block Mi Messages from unknown numbers". It was on and I had to take it off. After that, I recieved the SMS.

We are in 2024 and i had today, when trying to migrate the steam guard to a new phone, the exact same issue - how can this still be a problem after all these years, and for such an important mechanizm ?!

Just in case someone comes across this post and still has the issue. What worked for me was turning off WIFI calling.

For those still having problems like I just had. You can use the steam chat mobile app(seperate app to steam mobile app) and do the same steps. Just press the three horizontal bars on the left side, then click on your profile picture and press on edit profile. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING and just scroll down press save. Go back to where you authenticate and then an SMS will be sent. For mine it sent the code under a different company name, might be the same for you.

Oh. I forgot about this conversation. It eventually just worked. Took about a week of hammering it.
If you're switching phones: It might just take a few days. Keep trying.

confirmed, used temporary codes (took them from the client on the PC), saved the profile in the chat and was able to receive an SMS in Steam (to move the authenticator)

try clearing the phone number input field and re-entering your phone number with the country code, more precisely without spaces
