Need help about keeping my account safe from brother.
So, in a nutshell, I need to keep my account safe from my brother. He doesent have a computer or steam games, so he plays on mine. He tried to mess with my items in csgo, and got me deranked like 2 times in a week. Told parents that he is messing with my account, they said I need to 'Learn to share' and that hes just a kid, so he could do no harm. Any ideas how I could block him from using the account? (When I tell him to get off it, he just tells my parents and honestly this situation is pissing me off.)

When done, log out of your account and dont save the password or click the "remember me", and make him a account for himself!

Also change Steam/email passwords if he knows them obviously.

Sharing your account is not allowed and he needs to make his own if old enough.

If not then he is not allowed to have an account and your parents need to know that as it's a legal issue.

Tell your parents that sharing is forbidden as per the SSA you accepted. You should actually read it so you can tell them what happens if they still want to force you.

In case it wont work - i know some parents are immune to reason - how is your setup? Does your brother also uses your windows account?

Can you create a separate windows account for yourself, one for your brother/everyone else? It would help to wall of your account.

Your probably best move would be to create a new Steam account for your brother which he can use and do all the stuff he wants. If you have multiple windows accounts, you dont even have to logout of Steam.

Just to block access to your brother would probably cause the parents to intervine.

Your PARENTS need to understand how Steam and PC games work, then. Don't allow him to share your stuff.

I can guarantee you in a couple months you'll see a Vac ban - because brothers cheat.

Lock that stuff up, give him his own account, and attempt to make SURE that your computer accounts are securely separated with logins.

I'd suggest reminding him too that if he screws up on that computer, you ALL get screwed - and he will owe you for whatever stuff you'd like to have sold or traded because bans will keep those locked to their accounts... even if it's just 'your brother' doing stuff... it's still a ban.

don't let that happen.

Along with this sage advice OP, tell your parents not only does Steam not return stolen or lost items or money, but if your brother screws up? There's really no way to fix it - parents tend to believe someone at the "company" will solve the issue, but there's no number to call and no one to talk to - everything is gone, forever. Support won't make exceptions; your brother's age won't matter a dot.

And if they don't believe you, here's a link to the official FAQ - Steam does not return inventory items or wallet funds: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3415-WAFH-6433#noreturn

So, tell them your brother can do quite a lot of harm - that's the reality of the situation.

PS, if they still give you a difficult time, have them create a separate thread here, and some of the other parents will help explain the TOS policy and dangers to them in vivid detail.

I somehow get the feeling the little brother can and will shift the blame.

Y not make a 2nd account for him? He doesn't even need his own email as yours or your moms would suffice. If all he plays is Cs:go then just get him a 2nd copy. Plus he can start on getting games for himself and won't have to rely solely on u for access to games.

Sooner or later this is going to have to happen & it sounds like hes getting old enough to start getting his own things anyway.

Don't let them borrow your account directly - make a new account for him, then use family sharing to allow him to use your games if necessary.

CSGO is free to play, so you don't even need to share it if that's all he is going to play.

You should remove that phone completely from your account and use your email as steam guard instead. It doesnt matter changing the password when someone else can remotely reset it any given time and its your account we're talking about. Make it clear who owns the account
