My steam download speed is unreasonably slow compared to everything else
Hey everyone,
I have been looking for a solution to this problem for a couple of days now. My steam download speed averages around 500 KB/s and this has been the case for the last couple of days. Meanwhile whenever i use origin I get consistent 70 MB/s sometimes even more. This just cant be right. I have tried all the possible solutions like changing my download region, emptying my download cache. The only thing I haven't done is reinstalling steam but I doubt it will help. I know that origin download speed isnt always 100% true and tends to be about 2 times higher than that of steam but 500 Kb vs 70-100+ MB is just insane. Do you guys know what the problem could be? Thanks

Update: I ended up reseting my PC and reinstalling Windows. Solved the Problem completly. Might habe something to do with my HDD being kind of Old. Still doesnt explain why Origin was so mich faster but at least the Problem is gone.

Change download region including on the other side of the world until you find one better.

As a sidenote: I have the same download speed on all PC clients.

Flush the dns. https://www.ionos.com/digitalguide/server/configuration/flush-dns/

or reboot your router and test.

Everything else including Epic Games Store and Origin works perfectly fine.

As stated my download speed is the same for all PC clients so from my point of view it is not a Steam issue.

70-100 MB/s on Origin and 500 KB/s - 1 MB/s on Steam?

Well it's most likely somehow related to my computer or maybe my router idk. The problem is that I cant find the source of the issue...

Post a screenshot of the download.

Speed tests are Mbps not MB/s.
Steam downloads are in MB/s by default.

Either your ISP is throttling your steam downloads, something in between is, or maybe an A/V us interfering. Else potentially router settings.
