How to defer game updates?
Searching online I can only find how to per game tell them not to update until launch.

Basically Internet is out for a couple of days until fixed and I'm tethering off my phone, but mindful of mobile data.

Ideally either just want a way to tell Steam not to update any games, or alternatively for those already in queue, tell them to delay by 1 week.

Any solutions?

Have you considered Steam's offline mode? No data usage at all->perfect for limited traffic.

Steam articles say launch them online once then you can play them offline indefinitrly. Doesn't say you have to play them online, just says launch. Go offline is in menu under Steam.

Thanks for replies both.

I am interested in playing one game only until my standard Internet is fixed. However this game is PVP only, and my friends list in game is taken from my Steam friends list, so taking Steam offline is not an option I think?

I just want to prevent all other games in my library from updating during this time so they do not eat into my data usage.

Set them to update on launch. Go offline when you launch them and go back online when you want to play your MP game.

From what I read online, that's a per game setting though? I have around 250 games in my library that's a lot of manual work to complete a simple task.

I got next to 2 kilogames in my library, I just don't have all of them installed at once. Do you have all those 250 games installed?

Haha that's a great point; no I don't. But probably around 100 of them I do.

100 games, yeah, that's quite a lot of clicks to do. I'm afraid, you don't have any other options.

My suggestion is decide what games you want to play now while you still have internet, launch those games to the main menu once online, and enjoy them offline until you have internet again.

There's no way around playing games that require internet without internet. You won't be able to play player vs player games.

Humans survived without internet and video games and cell phones for thousands of years.
