How exit Steam!

Total frustrated newbie. Over three hours trying to get game to config. Can't find any way to ask for help in Steam (Support denies me & so does 'community'.) Just discovered this forum separately in my browser. Can it be accessed via Steam? If so, why is it so hard to find? :(

Anyway, first question: I frequently get stuck in Steam and cannot exit! I have to use Ctrl+Shift+Esc to get Task Manager and then End Task!! Is there a common key or method to get back to the main page/control panel/desktop whatever it's called? I mean the page where there is a power button top right (and I didn't even know that power button didn't turn off my pc for my first hour or two!) I mean specifically from pages where I'm trying to config the controller or in game. How to get out quickly?

Those "pages" got yer olde X in the top right corner. Click it.
If you're using Steam in BPM (which you shouldn't unless you have to, it's kinda crappy), there's a done button at the bottom. Click that.

Treat steam as a normal programm. You can start games with it, and you can exit it with right click on the tray icon. Like any other programm.

The forum you reach by clicking community, discussions in the client.

If you dont need big picture mode, try the normal. Dont get confused. Its just a programm.

OK, thanks, I'll take a look, but if there's an X in the corner it must be very dark grey on black, 8( because I searched every corner of the screen for a way out several times. There's not always a done or back button for sure. My eyes are not that great. 8(

For starters, do you have a reason to rely on BPM instead of going with desktop Steam?

That, and the back button is on every BPM screen, at the very bottom. Click that.

Just tried again and the problem does seem to big picture mode and there are no X buttons at all. I'm forced into that in order to config my controller (which I've failed at after more than 3 hours! In BPM there is a settings icon which does not seem to be available in any but BPM! Why? So, anyway, because I've always been pushed into BPM, when you click 'Community' there is no discussion option that I can see (hover doesn't do anything.) I found this forum by searching in my web browser! Now I see I can access it via Steam by not going into BPM. Even then, if you click 'Community' you can't see any discussion option. However, if you hover over the word 'Community' then discussion is on a drop down. Totally non-obvious except by a chance hover.

So, further experimentation, while in BPM trying to configure my controller and switching back and forth to the game, the quickest way out is still Task Manager. I did find a way by closing the game, confirming, then about 5 or 6 buttons to get out. So, Task Manager for me in that situation.

Hopefully, once I find out how to config this controller I won't need BPM again or rarely.

Ok, so you're in BPM because you need to change the mapping mid-game.
Makes sense.
Please upload a screenshot of the screen you can't find the back button on so I can point out where it is. Generally, it's at the far bottom of the screen, middle'ish.

ok, I started to take a screenshot using Ctrl+Print Screen. As soon as I hit Ctrl then buttons appeared at the bottom. One was 'done'. Now I wasn't actually done but clicking it got me out. There are various screens where the back button is absent. One has web at bottom left and chat at bottom right. Sometimes there is a back button in the middle but just as often not. Even when I track back using buttons, it's still a chore just to exit. For this config task I prefer to call up Task Manager and force an exit.

Steam tells me I've now played this game for FOUR hours. But it's longer than that in real time and I've not actually 'played' at all except to test buttons because it's more like six hours or more trying to configure the controller over several sessions/days. I'll post separately on that. I did actually give up the other day in frustration but magically one button did eventually work but I don't know how or why. Anyway, that's another story.
