Accidentally entered a code as a Wallet Code instead of Activating...

Hi, I was just gifted a game by a family member and they messaged me the code so I could activate. However I wasn't paying full attention and entered it as a "wallet code", so now I cannot Activate the product... can support help me undo this mistake?

It should simply give you an error when attempting to activate it and let you activate it the normal way without issue.

What is the exact error message you get?

And why do you think you can not activate the game?

Codes are unique to what they represent. A game code cannot be redeemed as wallet funds, or vice versa.

edit: The Steam Wallet Code entry box will accept game keys but it will still activate the game, not give you wallet funds for them.

How can it be accidental to use for yourself, if goal was to use it for yourself? I accidentally ate food that I made for myself to eat, see how silly that logic.

^ If it a game code just check your license it will show there, if not seeing the game in your library, restart client.

It's not showing as a license and when I try to activate it says "product already owned"

Tried again after waiting 15 mins and it's activated this time.

I just did the same thing with some Fanatical keys I hadn't redeemed yet. The games activate as expected.

It's the same thing game codes can be redeemed as wallet codes or gift card code line under your picture and wallet icon. It does not however give you a notification that the specific game you bought is in your library it just sez success! You have to search the game it will then show it is owned. I've done it hundreds of times. So much faster and less windows get opened. When I do the PC way I get like 20 open windows when I'm finished with a humble. When I grab flips I like to use the wallet method.
