Profile award (completey random?)
Hi, I’m just curious, my partner has no friends on her steam, just very close family she hasn’t been online in 5 days, and doesn’t play online games, just little single player games.

Randomly at 5am this morning, she got an email saying she’s got a profile award “saucy” ? I’ve been on steam myself for over 17 years and have no idea what these are?

Nobody from our family have sent her anything, and she doesn’t play online? What on earth has caused someone to do that? Or what in earth is happening? It’s just very strange.

Thank you.

COMMUNITY AWARDS
Use your points to emphasize reviews, profiles, discussion board posts, and User-Generated Content on Steam with an Award. The Award will appear for all to see and also give the contributor a tip of 100 Points or more.

Sometimes you read a review that was helpful, unique, or just written so well that you want to shake that person's hand. Now you can recognize their work by giving them an award.
Browse games and read some reviews.

Some user generated content is so great you want to print it out, frame it and hang on the wall. Now you can also recognize that workshop item, screenshot or guide by giving it an award.
Visit the Workshop.

Impressed with another player's profile? Amazed at someone's insightful post in a discussion board? Points can now be used to directly reward and recognize Steam player profiles and discussion board posts.

THE PATRON BADGE
Be admired for your generosity when you support User-Generated content with Awards.

THE CONTRIBUTOR BADGE
Receive acknowledgement for your hard work when others shower you with Awards and points.

Anyone who has a public profile can be given an award on their profile. You can't know who gave the award to you.

I understand that, but she has no ransoms on her friends, she doesn’t do reviews, she doesn’t do custom content, she literally plays some single player games. Doesn’t do anything “community” driven on steam.

She’s confused how she got it or why, there’s no reason anyone that we can think off that had found her profile?

The world will never know. If it bother you/her, make the profile private.

Yeah she said she might do that, as there’s 0 reasons why someone would know her profile, she found it a little strange. Especially when she can’t see how or why someone did it.

It can be a bit creepy...kinda like how you can't see who's following you, but unfortunately, it is what it is.

In a few weeks she'll get an email that says she got an award for ( whatever it was ) if its a profile award it shows in her profile, for any other stuff like a comment or image that email will show if it was for a comment or an image with a link to it.

Possible someone was just searching for profiles by name, found hers at random and gave her an award for whatever reason. I wouldn't be too concerned about It.
