Games take more space than they say
So ive been encountering this problem for a couple years now and now im trying to figure out why its doing this. When i downloads a game, for instance Skyrim, they say it takes 14 gb and i had 38 free. but by the end of the download i have 10 gb remaining. i just need to know why its doing this because every game does this. Can some please help?

Downloads are compressed and they need space to unpack and install. Any free space that was allocated will be freed up at the end of the process.

You forgot to count DLC with original game with no DLC's many game devs never do that , they never correct the information or explan with more better.

^^this + Space required on release is listed, doesnt include any updates or dlc.
You should leave at least 10% of a drive free.
For an os drive, i would keep 20% free.

In many cases a game will take up twice the space of a download once it's unpacked.

But not finally, compared to the store page.

Temporarily while downloaded files are decompressed and processed? Yes.
Permanently? No.
