My account got hacked
Uhm so my first steam account got hacked someone changed the email and name but they forgot to unlink my discord so my girlfriend found the account with a different name that i had before so now im asking for the community to help me to get my old account back. It doesnt have much games on it but it was really important to me because ive been using it for so long and me and my friends used to play and spend together there making so many hours on games so please im begging for this community to help me.

This is screen shot that i got from my girlfriend and i used to have Rentarou as display name on there. (idk if i can put links but yeah also idk if i should put my email that i used for it on here but yeah)

{LINK REMOVED}

Idk what else to say i dont really have much proof cuz i think my laptop got hacked for some reason and that someone went into my gmail blocked steam and change the email of my old steam account idk if this makes sense im sorry if it doesn i just want my old account back.

Thank you for understanding.

Account Recovery
Make sure you are completely logged out of Steam before you start the recovery process

Here is a guide that another Steam user was kind enough to make. It will help you navigate your way thru the recovery process if you are having any problems.

you dont need to post screenshots nor links, that does nothing. just read and follow the guide, dont rush thru it. when people rush, it takes them longer to get their recovery ticket in.

if your account was hacked 3 times, that means YOU are the problem. stop giving away your account log in and take the security of your account more serious. it is far easier to get the log in from you (as you have proven) then it is to hack the steam servers.

1. steam does care, but they cannot stop you from doing something stupid with your account log in.

2. steam does not support the thief. If you claim your account was stolen, steam wants you to provide proof that you are the owner of the account.

3. as I stated, it is easier to get the log in from you then from the steam servers

4. easy to fake an account compromise. they used to do restorations, but that got abused.

5. is there profit in adding more security to the system? no there is not. is there profit adding cooldowns on trades and market sales? no there is not.

no, it isn't. you ahv to realize that no hacker broke into steam and used that time to mess with your account. not to be a jerk, but you are not that big of a fish. anyone capable of actually hacking steam is going to scrape the data they want and sell it on the "dark" web.

at some point you either got phished and logged into a fake steam site or you gave your info away, usually on trading sites and those freebie sites.

use the link that wk gave and make sure you find out where it is that you gave away your info

nobody hacked you, unless you downloaded a virus. steam has not been hacked. you were phished or gave your info to a bad actor. figure out where or it will continue to happen

the only time steam support gives someone an account is when they provide enough proof that that are the original owner of the account.

we have seen plenty of people fall for scams where they think they are talking to a member of steam support. the reality is they are talking to the scammer who is impersonating a member of steam support and getting the log in from their victim.

you are responsible for protecting your log in. if you are using a computer that has a keylogger, that is your problem for using that computer.

the first time your account was stolen should have been the last time. clearly you didnt take the time to figure out how someone got access to it. you simply assumed it was steam supports fault and allowed what ever hole existed in your security to remain instead of fixing it.

lets get back to your issue. the guide is written with the assumption that the account was stolen, just take your time and go step by step thru it. if you get stuck on a step, just let us know and someone will clarify what you need to do to move forward. the guide does a really good job of getting people their account back, but it only helps when the person takes the time to read it fully instead of skimming thru it to find something and then missing everything that helps them.
