Starting games in offline mode
Do games that you have freshly downloaded need to start once while connected to the internet to run before taking them offline, or taking the machine offline, if it's a windows machine.

A quick search would give you the answer: Yes.

The fact that you even asked this in the manner which you did, implies that you knew the answer before asking.

I wanted to verify, cause it's super annoying. I tend to download my games in batches and then play them when i feel like and my immersion is usually broken by a first time setup or something.

It's also inconvenient.

The download MUST install once on your machine. There is no magical way around it. Never has been.

Ok i get it, but what i'm saying is it's making it really hard for me to enjoy steam rn because I download a large bit of my library of around 1000 games and then i go offline and try to play them and do not have internet access where I play at....so How can I make it so all the 556 games i have installed throughout a week of having internet will work for the next few months when I don't. I think I explained that right.

I would rather not go through and do the guesswork of have I started that one yet or not and try and start all 556 of them one by one before I go offline...I think a like sync first time startups button to ensure offline startup goes off without a hitch would really be ideal for playing games offline...which i love to do. especially with my steam deck coming I plan on using it as an offline game station and I would rather not have to start all of my games once after downloading them individually before going offline. I feel like there has to be some way around this, not around but to make it auto do it while i let my pc idle or something, I downloaded 556 games in a week so I can let my computer do stuff for awhile as long as it doesn't fart on itself.

You MUST install and run once while online before you can use the software while offline.

There is no way around it. Period.

OK. What I am now asking, is how to automatically run it once for my whole downloaded library as a scripted action that I do not have to micro manage...I hope that helps..you to help me....Thank you.

I have in the meantime been starting them one by one, and it's nice that not all of them require the install of whatever redistributables, I wish I could install a pack of redistributables and be done with it but at least some games just start up and then i close and move on to the next but again there are 556 installed as of now with only more going to be installed...so an alternative means to check the instal or method of cross checking which games need the first time setup and which ones don't and which ones need it but are completed and which ones have not been completed yet, idk these are just my two cents that im posting on my post, but I'll hopefully arrange it into a more concise suggestions post after i see how deep the rabbit hole goes so to speak. Thanks tho.

You can’t easily do what you are asking

You could script some of it but it would not be worth the effort

Pick a few game and get things set up and verified for offline mode. Then be done with it.

as an update starting them one by one with my current schedule and life...is beyond tedious. to the point of almost making me need to search for an alternative method and a third party solution or to just trash the idea and start over. But it's probably my method so it's just my own fault for being so stupid i guess.

it is what it is. i dl'd all of my games and, over time, did what you are trying. doing it all in one go, for the 600 games i have, would have been a chore. activate ten or so a day until they are good to go.

the kicker here is, you will have to occasionally connect to steam to recheck everything.
