Does anyone here use DS4Windows? A good half* of my Steam games dont work.
Hello there, im about at my wits end. Ive been trying to hours and hours but I've gotten literally nowhere.

The problem I'm having is whenever DS4Windows is open and I launch a Steam game it pops up a message saying "Controller Remapper Detected" and then begins to explain how I don't need a remapper because Steam does it and blah blah blah. I tried the option in DS4Windows to "Hide DS4 Controller" but the message still pops up, if I ignore it and click "Ok", my controller doesnt work at all in game.

I think this could be solved by deleting Steam Controller Configs/Shared Configs but Steam doesnt just have a "delete/forget" button anywhere. Ive tried deleting my configs from the Steam userfolder itself as well as editing the SDL part of the general config file but alase it always shows right back up when I turn my controller back on.

I had someone suggest just not using DS4Windows with Steam but you see I run all my games off a front-end called Launchbox and not only would it be very inconvienent to have to sit up and click out of the program everytime I want to play a Steam game as I have ADHD and switch games often, but DS4Windows literally says on the website you can use the program to play Steam games.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Rename DS4Windows.exe to anything else.

This is what i do because i use a ds4 controller and prefer to use ds4windows. Note: i use Ryochan7 version of ds4windows.

Use Steam input for games that actually require it. Sekiro is one example. Do it on a per game basis. Note: games that use Steam input only give you the message -
"Controller Remapper Detected". Note: Have the ds4 connected wired with ds4windows not running then boot Steam.

For all other games turn off Steam input on a per game basis then exit Steam. Connect the ds4 wired, boot ds4windows. Boot Steam. Note exit ds4windows if you want to switch to a game which requires Steam input.

Note: add games to collections you want to use with a controller and name them what you want. For me i use ds4 and sin.

Sekiro is actually the game im using for testing right now, and I turned off Steam Input for it but the message still pops up and my controls still dont work. Using Ryuchans version as well and honestly never had this problem with the OG.

Edit: Also I play every game with a controller as I have tourettes so mouse is harder for me since I twitch a lot.

Can you explain more? Do you know this works from personal experience? What about renaming it makes it work, wouldnt steam still detect it?

Yes, I've done it.

But that doesnt fix the issue that my controls still dont work in game. Its nice I can get the message to go away but my inputs still dont work.

For config try this:
- DS4Windows emulating a DS4, exclusive mode ("Hide DS4 Controller")

If you need to go via Steam Input enable PlayStation Configuration Support in Steam (or enable Steam Input on a per game basis). If the game wants Xinput (Xbox protocol), then either enable Steam Input or set DS4Windows to emulate an XB360.

Sorry misread your post, Sekiro requires Steam Input, I see now. It really sucks though because ill have to exit out of Steam and relaunch it every time I close DS4Windows because Steam doesnt just snap the controller over to it, it still thinks im using DS4Windows until a restart. Doing that every time I wanna play a few games sucks balls. Now I'm wondering if I should just say ♥♥♥♥ it and use Steam Input for all my Steam games and DS4 for everything else. Idk why Steam cant just make it simple and give us to option to disable Steam Input globally without certain games requiring you to use it for no reason.

Hide DS4 doesnt do anything for me for some reason. Idk why.

Sekiro uses Steam input. It is not optional to use ds4windows as you will always get controller conflicts.

Ryochans is a fork of the original and updated plus has additional features.

Alternatively use Steam input for all games you want to play on Steam rather than get frustrated and use ds4windows for all other PC clients.

If DS4W is set to emulate a DS4, when Hide is enabled your system should only see one DS4 (the emulated one). Go to gamepad-tester.com and it should only show one device. Disable the HIde and it should show two devices.

It shows an Xbox Controller (emulated) and a PS4 Controller (real one)

Yeah thats what im thinking about doing. Still sucks ill have to restart Steam everytime I want to switch to it from a different PC client do to Steam thinking DS4Windows is still open :| Im starting to think more and more everyday that just buying an Xbox controller would be better. Seems to me MS other companies just hate even the idea of a PS4 Controller being used on PC. I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate Xbox Controllers bumpers, they always end up getting stuck in and the bluetooth range is absolutely laughable.

Ok, so do you have Xbox Configuration Support enabled on Steam?

It was showing both devices even when Hide was enabled?

Nope its disabled like everything else, but as dude pointed out I guess some games just require Steam Input. Although I still dont know why it shows both controllers in DS4. Hope I wont be getting double inputs in my emulated games...
